The Health & Social Care Special Adviser team is expanding. See details of two roles below.

Special Adviser

DHSC is recruiting a new Special Adviser to work with the Ministerial team. The role will work across ministerial offices, providing expert political and communications advice and preparing Ministers for media and parliamentary commitments. You will have sound political judgement, be an outstanding communicator (in person and in writing) and, working with five Ministers, have the ability to prioritise with excellent organisational skills. Knowledge of parliament and an understanding of health and social care policy would be an advantage.

You will be joining a political team who work in one of the busiest departments in Whitehall, delivering on one of the Government's biggest priorities, and helping turn around a valued public service. You will have strong Labour values, and an ability to recognise the benefit an astute special adviser can add to an excellent political and civil servant team.

The salary for this role will fall within Pay Band 1: Junior Special Adviser - £42,525 to £55,650

Maternity cover: Health & Social Care Special Adviser - Communications

DHSC is recruiting a maternity cover Special Adviser to work with the Secretary of State. The role will focus on providing expert political and communications advice. You will have sound political judgement, be an outstanding communicator (in person and in writing) and have the ability to prioritise with excellent organisational skills. Knowledge of parliament and an understanding of health and social care policy would be an advantage.
