The Society of Evidence Based Policing (SEBP) is a member-led charity working to embed evidence at the heart of UK policing. Backed by the Youth Endowment Fund, we're scaling nationally to reduce harm and improve decision-making across policing.

We're seeking our second employed staff member - a Head of Engagement who will be our connection-maker, storyteller, and movement-builder.

The role

You'll lead our efforts to connect, inspire, and support the policing community to use evidence more effectively. This strategic yet hands-on role combines leadership with delivery, offering genuine opportunity to shape a growing organisation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engagement strategies and YEF-funded objectives
  • Shape SEBP's voice across all platforms
  • Transform our Members' Hub into a vibrant community resource
  • Design programmes of in-force support, mentoring and coaching
  • Work directly with police forces to embed evidence-based approaches
  • Manage digital presence including website, newsletters and social media
  • Host online events, webinars and workshops
  • Build partnerships with forces, research institutions and professional networks

About you

Essential:

  • Exceptional communicator who turns complex ideas into clear, actionable messages
  • Credibility to engage policing audiences at all levels
  • Strong digital skills and creative approach to engagement
  • Track record in communications, engagement or membership development
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on delivery
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working remotely

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of evidence-based policing or criminology
  • Experience designing change programmes in complex organisations
  • Understanding of policing culture and operational realities
  • Experience with grant-making organisations
