Job Details
We are seeking a Senior Caseworker to join our team supporting constituents across Bangor Aberconwy. This is a rewarding and varied role for someone who genuinely cares about improving lives in our community. You’ll be helping local people and businesses navigate issues ranging from housing and benefits to public services and government policy, ensuring their voices are heard and their concerns acted upon.
This is a full-time, office-based position, though part-time or flexible working arrangements will be considered.
About the Role
As Senior Caseworker, you’ll manage complex casework, support colleagues, and ensure the highest standards in how we handle and resolve constituent issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and prioritise a busy caseload, including complex and sensitive cases.
- Supervise and oversee the work of other staff.
- Log, monitor, and progress all casework promptly, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
- Draft and quality-check correspondence on both casework and policy matters.
- Liaise with external organisations to resolve constituent concerns effectively.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with data protection legislation.
- Organise and attend advice surgeries, ensuring all actions are recorded and followed up.
- Analyse and interpret casework data to identify emerging issues and trends.
- Keep up to date with relevant legislation and policy developments.
- Occasionally work outside normal hours, when required.
- Support the Member’s office with general administrative duties.
Skills and Experience
- Excellent organisational skills and experience managing a varied caseload.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
- Compassionate and professional approach, including when supporting vulnerable individuals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, busy team.
- Supervisory experience and a systems-oriented mindset.
- Good IT skills and experience using casework management software.
- Understanding of the policy landscape in Wales (desirable).
- Welsh language skills (spoken and written) are highly desirable.
- Sympathy with the aims and values of the Labour Party is essential.
- Full, clean driving license and access to a car.
