Job Details
Responsibilities will include:
- Responding effectively and courteously to routine correspondence and enquiries from constituents.
- Carrying out research into local, regional and international issues as required, ensuring the Member is made aware of any relevant issues
- Identifying any issues to assist the Member in their parliamentary work
- Undertaking research. Analyse and evaluate research and interpret data, ensuring key issues are identified.
- Assisting and leading, as required, on arrangements for events and meetings.
- Diary management.
- Providing general admin support.
- Providing briefings as required.
- Monitoring Bills, Early Day Motions, legislation, Hansard, debates, etc.
- Monitoring coverage in the media.
- Progressing casework and liaising with local and national bodies, Government agencies, lobby groups, etc .
- Maintaining, updating and developing knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Ensuring records are kept, with details of each issue by adhering to the Data Protection Act principles and respecting the confidentiality of data at all times.
- Communicating effectively with both internal and external contacts and stakeholders.
- Developing knowledge in specialist areas as required by the Member.
- Other tasks as directed by the Office Manager and Member.
Required Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Highly motivated with the ability to take initiative and be responsible for own work load.
This role is based in the Westminster Office but may require travel to Northampton on occasion.
Experience and knowledge about local and regional politics is desired but not essential.
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Interviews will be held w/c 8 December. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a written task, submitted prior to their interview.
