Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience of working in a policy, public affairs, secretariat or stakeholder engagement role.
  • Experience supporting committees, networks, or member groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality papers and briefings.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with confidence engaging a range of stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent computing skills, including the use of online collaboration tools and spreadsheets.
  • A proactive, flexible, and collaborative approach to work.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a membership organisation, charity, or professional body.
  • Knowledge of the NHS and dentistry.
  • Experience of policy or research work focused on London or regional/local government.
  • Understanding of local government structures, particularly London boroughs, and how local policy decisions are made.

Role and Function:

Committee and network management

  • Provide administrative and coordination support for member Local Dental Committees.
  • Plan and coordinate meeting schedules, prepare agendas, circulate papers, and draft accurate minutes and action logs.
  • Support committee Chairs in planning and delivering effective meetings and follow-up.
  • Ensure member feedback from committees and local engagement informs the organisation’s wider policy work.
  • Assist with the induction and ongoing support of committee members.

General

  • Support internal coordination and communication between staff members.
  • Contribute to organisational events, publications, and campaigns as needed.
  • Draft responses to consultations.
  • Ensure timely information is available on the website reflecting the activities of the LDC Confederation and member Local Dental Committees.
