Campaign Lab is a network of technologists and campaigners focused on campaign innovation, founded in 2018. 

About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced operations manager with organisation development experience to strengthen our organisational foundations over a six-month period. This person will work closely with the Director to implement key changes to our structure, systems, and team processes. You will be comfortable working autonomously and working alongside the team in the office 3 days per week. You’ll bring calm, structure, and experience of optimising small, agile teams, and you’ll help embed practical systems that make our work smoother.

What you’ll do
1. Organisational Systems and Operations

  • Review existing operational systems (finance tracking, HR, project management, governance) and identify gaps.
  • Implement streamlined processes for project management, task tracking and capacity planning to support improved internal coordination. (e.g. shared dashboards, reporting structures).

2. Restructure Management

  • Work with the Director to implement a light organisational restructure and clarify team roles, reporting lines, and KPIs.
  • Provide some light interim line management for 2/3 team members while the restructure and recruitment take place.
  • Support performance reviews, internal feedback and goal-setting processes.
  • Support development of role descriptions, contracts, and onboarding documentation for new roles.
  • Lead recruitment for new roles implementing fair, inclusive recruitment processes and managing timelines.
  • Oversee onboarding and handover to ensure continuity.

We’re looking for someone who
Essential

  • Significant experience in an operational role ideally working with small teams that combine research and tech in the non-profit or start-up sectors.
  • Strong systems thinker with a track record of designing and embedding effective internal processes.
  • Skilled people manager who can balance empathy with accountability.
  • Comfortable working in fast-moving, experimental environments.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Desirable

  • Experience managing restructuring.
  • Familiarity with digital, research, or civic-tech environments.
  • Understanding of governance, finance, or HR compliance.
  • Interest in democratic innovation or political work.
