Job Details
The Programme Manager will serve as the key organisational and strategic lead for the Huth Initiative for a New Political Economy (HINPE) - a major new research programme at LSE, launching in January 2026, that brings together leading academics to develop the ideas, policies and institutions for a fairer and more sustainable economic system. The Initiative includes both a core research programme and a Policy Hub focused on translating ideas into practice and is designed to grow over time into a permanent Institute.
The post-holder will work closely with the leadership team to turn the Initiative’s ambitious vision into reality, co-ordinating activity across both research and policy and ensuring coherence between intellectual, operational and external-facing work. They will provide leadership across governance, project development, funding, communications and events, and play a formative role in shaping the growth and evolution of the Initiative as it develops towards a permanent Institute. As part of a small and growing team, the post-holder will have the opportunity to shape new ways of working and help build a major new Initiative from the ground up, requiring an entrepreneurial spirit and a flexible, hands-on approach.
The role is ideally suited to a highly organised, proactive and intellectually curious individual who can combine strategic thinking with excellent delivery skills and who is motivated by HINPE’s mission to re-imagine political economy for the twenty-first century.
The successful candidate will have:
• An undergraduate/Master’s degree in economics, political science, philosophy, public policy or another relevant social-science discipline.
• Demonstrable experience managing complex programmes or research initiatives.
• Confidence in engaging with senior academics, policymakers, funders and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small, fast-moving team.
