Job Details
Louise is looking for a Constituency Support Officer to join her busy and friendly team working in her Eckington constituency office.
Key roles and responsibilities:
• Open, handle and action email and post.
• Prepare briefings.
• Handle administrative arrangements for meetings with members of the public/MP surgeries.
• Deal with large numbers of standard casework queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, online or face to face.
• Attend constituency meetings as appropriate.
• Support the organising and delivery of events in the constituency such as surgeries and coffee mornings - this may include venue research and bookings; compiling and managing guest-lists; liaising with suppliers; and providing on-the-day event support as required.
• Ensure enquiries are dealt with sensitively and confidentially.
• Efficient data and file management to ensure the office complies with the data protection legislation.
• Provide support to the MP when undertaking community projects and engagement.
• Supporting the team to manage social media pages and the website.

• A compassionate person with a strong sense of justice, natural ability to empathise with others, and a determination to fight for fair outcomes.
• Ability to adapt and work effectively as part of a team which manages diverse and varying workloads collaboratively and across shared databases.
• Capacity to respond patiently and politely to changing demands from constituents.
• Ability to assess complex and often incomplete information and be able to identify the key issues on behalf of a constituent.
• Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to manage conflicting work priorities and deadlines and pay keen attention to detail.
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office suite.
• Clear and concise writing style, excellent interpersonal skills and passionate about establishing relationships.
