Job Details

Liz Twist MP is seeking to appoint a full-time (part-time considered) team member to join her small team working in the Westminster office.

The role includes day to day running of the office which involves assisting Liz with her parliamentary work. It is expected that the candidate will have exceptional organisational skills and an understanding of how parliament works.
The role involves :
• Undertake research into local, regional and national issues to ensure Member is accurately informed on key issues.
• Assist in writing external communications, including speeches, briefings and submissions.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of relevant areas of Parliamentary business including Motions, legislation, Hansard, debates etc.
• Manage the Member’s diary and attend and participate in meetings on her behalf when necessary.
• Give advice on Policy issues
• Communicating effectively with both internal and external contacts and stakeholders
• Develop knowledge of Member’s specialist areas

Skills and experience (essential)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail
Highly motivated and able to work under own direction
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team
Skills and experience (desirable)
Detailed knowledge of UK Parliamentary processes and procedure
Experience delivering Parliamentary activities, such as written questions, Early Day Motions etc Experience in social media communications

A commitment to the aims and values of the Labour Party are desirable. There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.
