About Us
We are a leading UK environmental charity dedicated to protecting our ocean - defending crucial habitats, regenerating vital ecosystems and inspiring volunteers. We unite communities, governments, and industry, and champion science-based solutions for cleaner, healthier seas to tackle the climate and nature emergency.
We are currently looking for a Fisheries Project Lead to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 35 hours per week.
The Role
As Fisheries Project Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving the sustainable management of fisheries, ensuring that seafood sourcing is transparent, traceable, and environmentally responsible.
Specifically, you will lead the charge in developing our fisheries conservation policy, advocating for low-impact practices, and working closely with both the UK government and industry stakeholders to promote sustainable fisheries.
You’ll be the voice of sustainable fisheries, ensuring your passion affects others at events, within the media and through forums. Responding to consultations, you’ll provide clear, evidence-based positions on fishery issues, as well as lead research projects and pilot initiatives to drive change.
Additionally, you will:
- Collaborate across teams to share expertise and shape organisational strategy.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on projects to ensure impact and accountability.
About You
To be considered as a Fisheries Projects Lead, you will need:
- A deep understanding of fisheries management and/or policy in the UK (and ideally beyond)
- Proven experience influencing policy and delivering change in marine conservation
- To be a natural collaborator who thrives on building partnerships and finding solutions
- Excellent project management skills, with a strategic, organised, and results-focused approach
- To be a skilled communicator who can make complex issues clear and compelling
- To be a critical thinker with the ability to research and distil technical information
- A passion for ocean conservation
- To be resilient, adaptable, and comfortable working independently as well as in a team
