Job Details
Sarah Sackman is recruiting for two roles in Finchley and Golders Green, with some travel to Westminster.
The postholders will be joining a friendly, fun and dynamic team working to ensure that constituents’ voices are heard and supported, both in the constituency and in Westminster. You will need to be comfortable juggling multiple tasks, writing clearly and concisely and thinking critically about ideas, people and policy. The two roles will be responsible for managing some of the most high-profile aspects of Sarah’s work. You will be joining a high-impact team where positivity, trust and respect are highly valued and talent is nurtured.
Responsibilities:
• Create project/campaign strategies to shape Sarah’s constituency and parliamentary work
• Prepare briefings to frame national and/or regional policy issues through a constituency lens
• Engage with businesses, charities and public sector bodies to deliver on Sarah’s priorities
• Deal with complex queries and complaints on Sarah’s behalf, including triaging, drafting and sending correspondence
• Horizon-scanning, anticipating what advice or action may be required
• Assisting and leading on events and meetings, both in the constituency and in Parliament
• The postholders may need to work outside of normal working hours, including assisting with events and visits
Person specification
Essential:
• Experience of project management and/or campaigns
• Excellent research, written and verbal communication skills
• Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail
• Strong multi-tasking and time management skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team
• Emotional intelligence, able to engage with the public with professionalism and compassion
• Ability to deal with issues in a confidential and sensitive manner
• Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure Sarah is accurately informed on key issues
• Ability to link local issues to national and vice versa on politics, policy and communications
Desirable:
• An understanding of how Parliament works
• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party
• An understanding of the constituency is desirable but not essential
