Job Title: Programme Manager (Climate and Energy)

Job Details

LCEF is looking for a dynamic and motivated individula to develop our climate and energy programme and support our aims to raise environmental ambition across the labour movement. You will be responsible for driving political action on tackling the climate and environmental emergency at every political level and deliver on LCEF’s core activities including political advocacy, convening, project delivery and policy framing.

The ideal candidate will have a strong record of delivery on climate issues with a good knowledge of the stakeholders and political landscape within this policy sphere. They will be a motivated deliverer, able to produce meaningful change whilst adhering to LCEF’s central vision and theory of change.

Responsibilities

1. Political advocacy and stakeholder engagement
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across all parts of the labour movement and at all political levels.
• Cultivate and build strategic relationships with relevant organisations in the union, NGO and business sectors.
• Represent LCEF at events and conferences to enhance networks, increase visibility and achieve political change.

2. Project delivery
• Lead on the design and implementation of LCEF’s climate and energy programme.
• Plan and produce LCEF outputs, including briefings, reports and events that work towards LCEF’s strategic aims.

3. Framing development
• Develop frames and narratives that best work for raising ambition for the implementation of climate and energy policies.
• Work with stakeholders in the union movement and business community to best frame the energy transition while identifying risks and opportunities.
• Progress LCEF’s work on living standards and the connectedness of cost of living with UK’s net zero targets.

4. Policy knowledge
• Identify key areas of policy focus that would achieve the most impact for LCEF’s strategic objectives.
• Stay informed and up-to-date on developments in the political, union and environmental landscapes to contribute to the shaping of the programme.

5. Strategic delivery
• Work as part of a small yet highly motivated team to deliver LCEF’s strategic aims.
• Foster a positive and inclusive work culture that promotes collaboration, creativity and ambition.
