Job Details

Danny Beales MP is seeking to recruit a Communications Officer to work and play a key role in a busy office team.

This role is full-time and based in Parliament with travel to the constituency regularly involved.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, monitor, and update a social media and online presence in the constituency.
  • Produce online graphics and video content, as well as publicising surgeries and news alerts etc.
  • Follow-up on social media requests.
  • Design and develop engaging, targeted content and messages across a range of channels.
  • Manage and monitor social media enquiries, dealing with cases that do not need to be transferred to a higher level.
  • Monitor media coverage, liaise with media, prepare press releases as required (on constituency, non-party-political matters).
  • Draft responses to constituents.
  • Assist in the compilation of briefing packs.
  • Produce press releases, liaise with the media, meeting deadlines as appropriate
  • Other duties as may be reasonably directed from time to time.

Personal specification, knowledge, and experience

The postholder should have:

  • A strong writing style.
  • A proven ability to manage a large and complex workload.
  • Good IT skills – ideally with experience of social media platforms, video or graphic packages.
  • A professional manner and the ability to speak sensitively to people
  • A can-do and proactive attitude.
  • Personable and able to communicate with people from all backgrounds.
  • A commitment to Labour values.
