Job Details
Responsibilities
• Assist with surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate.
• Attend constituency meetings as required.
• Deal with large volumes of standard queries, as well as assist with more complex cases from members of the public via phone, email, social media, or face-to-face. Ongoing communication may be required.
• Draft responses to constituents.
• Ensure records are kept and information is managed confidentially in line with data protection legislation.
• Ensure each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially, and accurately, in accordance with the MP’s instructions.
• Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases.
• Log all cases, monitor progress, and ensure all identified actions are completed.
• Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act.
• There may be a requirement to work outside normal working hours and to travel occasionally for work.
• Assist with surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate
• Develop knowledge in specialist areas.
• Manage a large caseload of complex cases, working in a professional, confidential, caring, and sensitive manner.
• Research local, regional, or national issues to support MP's work.

Additional Responsibilities
• Database management using software to handle administrative cases.
• Exposure to complex casework.
• Deputise for the Casework Team Manager as required.
• Lead of special projects within the parliamentary team such as a particular parliamentary campaign
• Develop knowledge in specialist areas.

Skills and Experience
Essential
• A desire and willingness to help, with the ability to express empathy.
• A high standard of written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent cases while meeting important deadlines.
• Competence in using office applications.
Desirable
• An interest in politics and social justice.
• Previous experience supporting people in need, either as a volunteer or employee.
• Familiarity with the Wokingham constituency and surrounding area.
• Sympathy with the values and policies of the Liberal Democrats.
