Job Title: Parliamentary Researcher

Job Details

Richard Foord MP is looking to recruit a full-time researcher to work in his Westminster office.

Key responsibilities:

  • Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure Richard is accurately informed on key issues
  • Draft speeches
  • Compilation of briefing packs, take notes of meetings and draft submissions
  • Diary management
  • Engage confidentially, professionally, with care and integrity with members of the public
  • Give advice on policy issues
  • Have working knowledge of relevant legislation and upcoming Parliamentary business, including how they impact on the constituency
  • Help draft amendments for reports and prepare briefing material
  • Monitor national media and brief Richard on relevant issues
  • Monitor social media and report relevant issues
  • Prepare and present press releases
  • Prepare parliamentary questions
  • Ensure Richard is fully briefed on potential questions and motions to be put to the House
  • Work with colleagues in communications and casework to identify the impact of constituents’ casework on policy (and of policy on constituents’ casework)
  • There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work occasionally
  • Previous research on defence and security issues is desirable
  • Previous research on international affairs is desirable
  • Previous experience of advising policy makers is desirable but not essential
