Job Details
An exciting opportunity to work for Iqbal Mohamed MP in the constituency office. Previous experi-ence working for an MP, advocacy work or similar is essential.
Key Responsibilities
• Handle a large volume of constituent queries via phone, email, social media, and face-to-face meetings.
• Manage a diverse caseload, from standard inquiries to complex cases, ensuring prompt, sensitive, and accurate responses.
• Draft correspondence to constituents, government agencies, and other relevant organisations.
• Maintain an efficient casework management system, logging all cases and monitoring progress.
• Assist with MP surgeries, constituency meetings, and follow up on actions as required.
• Ensure all records and information are managed confidentially and in compliance with data protection legislation.
• Conduct research on various policy areas to support casework resolution.
Skills and Experience
• Previous experience as a caseworker or similar role with positive references.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational abilities with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in IT systems, including MS Office and social media platforms.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Empathetic approach with strong interpersonal skills.
• Capacity to manage a demanding workload and prioritise effectively.
• Discretion and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
• Research skills and ability to quickly understand complex issues.
• Commitment to providing high-quality constituent service.
• Passion for sincere public service, without discrimination or judgement.
• Alignment with the MP's values, politics, and policy interests.
Additional Information
• Some work outside normal office hours will be required, particularly for MP surgeries
• Some travel within the constituency may be necessary
• Flexibility to accommodate occasional unsocial hours
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
