Job Details
Rt. Hon. Maria Eagle MP is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Parliamentary Assistant to join her team in Westminster. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual with strong political awareness, excellent research and communication skills, and a keen interest in parliamentary affairs.
Based in the Parliamentary office, the Senior Parliamentary Assistant will support Maria representing Liverpool Garston in Parliament. This role requires someone proactive, well-organised, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced political environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake research on relevant subjects as directed.
- Analyse, evaluate, and interpret data to ensure Maria is accurately informed on key issues.
- Monitor local, regional, and national media coverage and brief the MP on relevant issues.
- Assist in writing external communications for Maria.
- Provide high quality, efficient and effective support to Maria as required.
- Prepare and present briefing notes.
- Liaise with constituency staff to ensure that Maria is fully briefed about local matters.
- Horizon-scanning, anticipate what advice or action may be required; pro-actively identify problems and resolve them.
- Respond to routine correspondence and enquiries.
- Provide general administrative support.
- Lead on project work as required.
Person Specification
The right candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Previous experience working in a parliamentary, political, or policy-focused role.
- Excellent research, written, and communication skills including the ability to draft briefing notes and correspondence to a high standard.
- Share the aims and values of the Labour Party
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and problem-solve proactively.
- A team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across Westminster and the constituency office.
