Job Details
Natasha Irons is the newly elected MP for Croydon East. The job is based between the Croydon East constituency and Westminster and our office is situated on the tram network and within easy reach of mainline train stations.
This is an opportunity for a candidate with a communications background to progress and develop a communications and engagement strategy that effectively ties together Natasha’s work in Croydon and in Parliament.
We’re looking for someone who is motivated and understands how to work in a small team to achieve results quickly. Previous experience of working in Parliament is desirable.
We would welcome applications from people currently working for Parliamentarians under IPSA’s new MP-to-MP staffing loan scheme wishing to take on this role as a secondment opportunity for career progression.
Flexible working will be considered but the minimum working week for this role is 0.8 FTE
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure the MP’s online presence is relevant and helpful for constituents, reflects local issues and priorities, and aligns with the Member’s priorities.
• Develop and deliver an integrated communications strategy across social media, press and events.
• Create compelling, localised messaging and content for a range of channels.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of external communications activity.
• Monitor media coverage, liaise with journalists, and prepare press releases as required on constituency and non-party-political matters.
• Ensure records are maintained and information is managed confidentially and in line with data protection legislation.
Skills and Experience:
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including experience in leading and supporting colleagues.
• A background in developing communications strategies and overseeing their effective delivery.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Competence in producing online graphics and video content is desirable.
• Previous experience working for a Parliamentarian is highly desirable as is a commitment to aims and values of the Labour Party.
• Experience in using social media platforms, including creating engaging content, monitoring interactions and responding to enquiries.

Length of contract: Fixed Term, to start by February 27th, 2026, and to finish on May 29th. There may be the opportuniry to start earlier for a handover period.
