Job Details

We are looking for someone with a strong background in public affairs and/or communications consultancy, who is exceptionally organised, hardworking and self-motivated. You may also have experience of working in parliament, politics, the media or the civil service.

As a Senior Consultant, you will play a central role in delivering outstanding client work, helping shape strategy, and supporting the wider team. You will be trusted to run accounts day-to-day and act as a key adviser to clients.

In this role you will:

  • Deliver excellent day-to-day client service across a portfolio of accounts, drawing on deep knowledge of UK politics, Parliament, the media, communications and public affairs.
  • Direct client accounts, acting as an expert “plate-spinner” - tracking actions, prioritising tasks and coordinating delivery across the team.
  • Monitor political developments closely, reacting quickly to events with clear strategic insight and actionable advice.
  • Use and develop your political network to help clients achieve their objectives.
  • Produce high-quality written and verbal outputs, maintaining Charlesbye’s high standards of client delivery.
  • Apply strong political and communications judgement to advise clients operating in complex or sensitive environments
  • Generate ideas and see them through from concept to execution.
  • Support and help develop junior team members, setting high standards and providing clear direction.

Candidate Specification:

  • 5+ years experience working in a public affairs and / or communications consultancy.
  • An excellent knowledge of the UK Government, Parliament, Whitehall and the media.
  • Experience developing and delivering public affairs and / or strategic communications strategies, including navigating reputational, legislative or regulatory challenges.
  • Outstanding organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities under pressure.
  • Strong political judgement, attention to detail and decisiveness.
  • Exceptional written communication skills and confidence in advising clients verbally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted client relationships.
  • This role would be well suited to someone who has worked as a public affairs or communications consultant, potentially with prior experience in an MP’s office, Parliament, politics, the media or the civil service.
