Job Details
Sam Carling, MP for North West Cambridgeshire, is recruiting a Constituency Assistant to provide a range of support in the constituency office, both to Sam and directly to constituents. This role would suit an early-career administrative professional seeking to gain experience across a range of areas. The role will be based in the constituency of North West Cambridgeshire.
• Assist surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate
• Attend constituency meetings as appropriate
• Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face. Ongoing communication may be required
• Draft responses to constituents
• Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
• Diary management and assisting with arrangements for events, including surgeries, may include venue research and bookings, compiling and managing guest lists, liaising with suppliers and providing on the day event support
There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally
Essential criteria:
• Strong organisation and time management skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable engaging with constituents face to face
• Team player
• Positive, can do attitude, team player
• Commitment to the aims and values of the Labour Party
A driving licence is highly desirable
