Job Details
Matthew Patrick is looking to appoint an experienced, dedicated, and compassionate Constituency Support Manager to join his constituency team.
This role involves line management responsibility providing support to caseworkers to ensure high quality casework is produced.
The role will involve supporting the Office Manager to oversee the team functions, performance and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise caseworkers to guide casework responses, ensuring an excellent standard of correspondence and provide day-to-day casework support.
- Oversee performance management for the casework team, ensuring that objectives are being met, and support provided where needed. Take a lead and provide guidance on the most complex, wide-ranging or sensitive cases – ensuring the MP is kept updated and is properly advised on what action to take.
- Engage and maintain positive relationships with key local stakeholders.
- Manage and oversee projects and campaigns within the constituency.
- Liaise with government departments, local authorities, housing associations and other agencies to resolve matters.
- Draft clear and professional correspondence on behalf of the MP.
- Identify enquiry patterns or emerging local issues and advise as appropriate.
- Responsible for team admin processes: meetings and agendas, action tracking, SharePoint Management, as well as undertaking some administrative duties to support the office and MP as needed.
- Commission briefings, ensuring they are delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Horizon-scanning, anticipate what advice or action may be required; proactively identify problems and resolve them.
- Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation.
- There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.
Person Specification
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and confidence interacting with, and advocating on behalf of, a wide range of people.
- Experience of casework, a public-facing role, or working directly with the public.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and use initiative, with good attention to detail.
- Sympathy with the aims and values of the Labour Party.
