The opportunity
The UK battery industry is expanding rapidly, supported by the Government’s Industrial Strategy and long‑term ambitions for electrification, green growth, and advanced manufacturing. As regulations evolve in the UK and Europe, this is a pivotal moment to join the sector.
We are seeking a proactive, analytical Policy Specialist to help shape Agratas’ positions on key regulatory, political, and industry issues. The role sits at the intersection of policy, strategy, and stakeholder engagement.
This is a home‑based role with weekly travel to London for meetings and wider travel to Agratas sites across England.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Government Affairs Manager in developing policy options and new workstreams to address business and sector challenges.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to influence policy development and advance business objectives.
- Translate complex proposals into clear, impactful policy statements.
- Represent Agratas at external events, including with UK Government, regional bodies, sector organisations, trade associations, and European institutions.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Draft briefings and respond to internal and external requests.
- Monitor the policy landscape and produce concise reports and assessments.
- Advocate Agratas’ positions effectively and collaborate with other Tata companies.
Qualifications & experience
- Self‑starter with strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Proven experience in public policy, government relations, or a related field.
- Confident engaging with senior colleagues across the business.
- Strong understanding of policy development and Government processes.
- Experience with legislative processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with complex, technical information in a fast‑changing environment.
