We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join a busy parliamentary office supporting Dr. Neil Shastri-Hurst MP in Westminster and the constituency. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone seeking their first role in politics, public policy, and public service, and who is keen to develop practical experience at the heart of Parliament.
You will support the day-to-day running of the office and play an active role in helping the team stay informed and well-prepared. This will include researching, analysing, and summarising information on a range of policy and constituency issues, assisting with the preparation of briefing packs, drafting short submissions and correspondence, and taking notes at meetings.
The role offers exposure to parliamentary business, including legislation, debates, motions, and Hansard, as well as local and national issues affecting constituents. You will help manage constituency casework, including assisting with more complex cases, and engage professionally and confidentially with members of the public.
You will also help manage the office inbox and diary, organise meetings, tours, PMQs and work-experience placements, and provide general administrative support. This includes maintaining accurate records and files in line with data protection legislation, responding to routine enquiries, supporting project work, and undertaking research as directed.
This role will suit someone who is organised, curious, and eager to learn, with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
The post offers valuable insight into how Parliament works in practice. There may be occasional requirements to work outside normal hours or travel for work.
