Job Title: Caseworker and Constituency Assistant (Part-time or Full-time)

Location: Telford/Hybrid

Salary: £27,600 - £29,400 FTE. Actual salary will be pro rata for 30 hours per week.

Length of Contract: Permanent (Subject to six month probation)

Job Details

Working Hours: 30 or 37 hours, flexible working requests considered, but over a minimum of 4 days with occasional evening or weekend work as required.

This is an opportunity to join the office of Shaun Davies MP and play a direct role in supporting people across Telford. The role is ideal for someone motivated by resolving problems, navigating public services, and helping residents have their voices heard.

Key Responsibilities

Casework
• Respond to constituent enquiries via phone, email, social media, and in person.
• Liaise with agencies and organisations to progress cases and follow through to resolution.
• Log, track, and monitor casework to ensure timely action.
• Handle information sensitively and in line with data protection requirements.
• Draft clear written responses and briefings.
• Identify patterns in casework to inform local engagement and policy insight.

Constituency Engagement
• Support the planning and delivery of surgeries, meetings, and local events.
• Attend surgeries and meetings as appropriate and ensure follow-up actions are completed.
• Build relationships with local stakeholders, voluntary groups, and partner organisations.

Communications & Administration
• Monitor digital and social media enquiries relating to casework.
• Maintain accurate records and correspondence using case management systems.
• Prepare briefing notes.

Person Specification

Essential
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in casework, customer service, or a comparable problem-solving role.
• Strong organisational and time management abilities.
• Ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
• Analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Understanding of local community issues.

Desirable
• Competence in digital communication and social media.
• Familiarity with the work of MPs, local government, or the third sector; or similar environments (e.g. legal, advocacy, advice).
• Awareness of data protection and confidentiality standards.

Additional Information
• Occasional work outside standard hours may be required.
• Travel within the constituency and occasional travel to Westminster.
• Applicants should be sympathetic to the aims and values of a Labour MP.
