Job Details

The Caseworker will support Will Stone to be an active, impactful and approachable MP. You will provide information, advice & support to local people on a wide range of local, national & international issues.

You will manage a large caseload, responding to issues raised by constituents by phone, email, social media or face to face, you will be required to communicate with a range of stakeholders including government departments, the local authority, voluntary sector, and other organisations.

You will join a small constituency office team focussed on delivering for the people of Swindon North and assisting Will Stone in delivering on and sharing his key priorities with his constituents.

Key responsibilities

  • Process & manage constituent casework, received by phone, email or in person - acknowledging receipt of enquiries, gathering relevant information, & corresponding with government departments, other agencies & organisations, as appropriate
  • Draft responses to constituents and ensure all cases are dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially, and in line with the MP’s policies
  • Log & monitor all cases, ensuring that progress is tracked, & actions completed
  • Analyse patterns of enquiries & produce information & reports to inform ongoing work
  • Retain records & information confidentially & in line with data protection legislation
  • Some work outside of normal working hours may be required, particularly for MP advice surgeries, & occasional work travel

  • Excellent interpersonal & written communication skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Ability & willingness to develop knowledge in specialist areas
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively as part of a small team
  • An understanding of UK politics & willingness to learn government policy in response to constituent queries
  • Sympathetic to the aims & values of the Labour Party

Desirable skills

  • Previous casework experience
  • Knowledge of social media to aid constituent outreach and assist in ad hoc video creation for the MP

This is a full-time role worked Monday to Friday in the constituency office with occasional travel to London.
