Job Details
Tony Vaughan MP is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Policy Caseworker to join his team on a part-time basis (3 days per week) for a fixed-term period of two months.
This role is ideally suited for a candidate who can work independently from a remote location.
The successful applicant will focus on responding to a busy policy inbox, drafting responses to constituents on a wide range of national and local policy issues. They will work closely with existing leadership staff to manage workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
• Respond to a diverse policy caseload, ensuring all enquiries are dealt with in a timely and sensitive manner.
• Draft responses to routine "campaign" style emails and complex, bespoke policy queries.
• Research topics across a broad spectrum of policy areas to ensure accurate and up-to-date responses.
• Maintain clear and accurate records of constituent contact using Caseworker.mp.
• Liaise with Government departments and external bodies to resolve queries where necessary.
Essential Skills and Experience:
• Previous experience working for an MP is essential. You must have a track record of managing a policy caseload.
• Proficiency in Caseworker.mp is required. You should be comfortable logging cases, tracking progress, and using templates.
• Knowledge of the PRS (Parliamentary Research Service) system. Ability to utilize PRS briefings to inform responses is crucial.
• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex policy positions clearly and empathetically.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Strong research skills and attention to detail.
• Sympathy with the aims and values of the Labour Party.
