Job Details

Tracy Gilbert MP is looking for a committed and organised full time Caseworker to join her team.

The Caseworker will support Tracy to be advocate for and support her constituents on a range of issues. The successful applicant will be able to deal with a complex caseload and support local priorities while being supported by the Senior Caseworker.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate.
  • Attend constituency meetings as appropriate.
  • Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from constituents.
  • Draft responses to constituents.
  • Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with data protection.
  • Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately in accordance with set out processes.
  • Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases.
  • Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken.
  • Retain records and information confidentially in line with the Data Protection Act.
  • There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel.
  • Support the MP to be integrated in local communities by building relationships with constituents and local organisations.

  • Ability to deal with and prioritise a large and varied caseload, and work well under pressure
  • Ability to manage expectations in sometimes challenging circumstances
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Good IT skills including MS Office
  • Ability to draft letters and emails to a high professional standard
  • Ability and willingness to develop knowledge in specialist areas
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively as part of a small team
  • Discretion and professionalism
  • Sympathetic to the aims, values and objectives of the Labour Party
