Job Title: Junior Placemaker (three roles)

Working For: Our Place

Location: London

Salary: The London Living Wage (£14.80 per hour)

Length of Contract: Three months (June to August 2026)

Job Details

The Summer Placement at Our Place offers three young people the chance to gain invaluable and enjoyable experience in the world of sustainable development – supporting the team to deliver on our objectives and learning from others in the process.

Who is Our Place?

Our country faces mounting social, economic and environmental challenges. Too many of our children and grandchildren grow up in poor-quality and insecure accommodation. Young people can’t get on the housing ladder, put down roots or get the skills they need to make a start in life. Our fellow neighbours can’t access enough green space and vital community facilities, and our parents and grandparents can’t downsize to a place that’s right for them.

At Our Place, we believe in the power of new development. But we also believe that development should do more than build — it should restore, connect and inspire.

We create beautiful, walkable places where people and Nature thrive together, shaping communities that nurture wellbeing, belonging, and purpose.

Our mission is simple: to build enduring, sustainable communities that enrich lives — places of harmony, beauty and connection that we can all be proud of.

About the role

During the three months at Our Place each junior placemaker will be fully exposed to all elements of our work in order to get a real flavour of what we do – this will include:

• Learning from individuals in the team who have spent decades in their field – whether that be architecture, finance, facilities management, planning or communications and marketing.
• Providing your perspective on how our proposals can best appeal to young people. We are keen to hear from the next generation.
• Observing and contributing to meetings (where appropriate) – both internally and externally.
• Interacting with key stakeholders at both a local and national level.
• Creating innovative and effective campaign strategies which make the case for new development in specific parts of the UK.
• Campaigning “on the ground” to deliver on these strategies.

What we ask of you

We do not require applicants to have a degree or any minimum qualifications – instead we are simply looking for people with drive, who share our passion for creating places that we can be proud of.

Closing Date: 27 March 2026

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will commence during the week commencing Monday 13th April

Start date: the placement will commence on Monday 1st June and will conclude on Friday 28th August
