Job Details

Tom Tugendhat MP is looking for a Constituency Support Officer based at his office in Tonbridge. This is an exciting role for a high-profile Member of Parliament, directly supporting Tom and his team to work for every community across Tonbridge, Edenbridge and North Downs Villages.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist to resolve cases and ensure they are dealt with promptly, sensitively and confidentially, in accordance with data protection requirements
- Progress ongoing campaigns linked to Tom’s key local priorities, and manage relationships with external stakeholders
- Draft responses to correspondence received from residents across Tonbridge, Edenbridge and North Downs Villages
- Gather relevant information to assist with finding solutions to cases
- Monitor progress on each ongoing priority and ensure all identified actions are taken
- Assist in writing external communications, including speeches and consultation responses
- Attend constituency meetings with Tom, including surgeries and visits
- Represent Tom at external meetings, where appropriate

Essential characteristics:
- Excellent knowledge of West Kent and a sharp political awareness.
- A strong communicator who is comfortable representing Tom to external audiences.
- A proactive mindset to identify current issues and advise on how Tom can resolve these
- Confident in building relationships with key stakeholders across Tonbridge, Edenbridge and North Downs Villages
- Strong attention to detail

The successful applicant must be sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party and supportive of Tom’s work across Tonbridge, Edenbridge and North Downs Villages, and in Parliament. Some evening and weekend work will be required. Access to a car is necessary to travel around a predominantly rural seat.

You will be joining a close-knit team who have worked together for many years. Above all, you need to have a passion for helping people, a desire to promote the needs of the towns and villages Tom represents, and be a strong team player.
