Job Details

Sadik Al-Hassan MP is looking for a Caseworker join his small, dedicated and friendly team, based in Portishead, North Somerset.

You will be a team player with a positive attitude, who will join colleagues in supporting Sadik to best represent and support local constituents.

You should have excellent organisational and communication skills and a desire to help people, with a friendly and professional approach. Good research and administration skills are essential, along with self-motivation, diligence and initiative. An ability to follow procedures and instruction, manage your own workload and meet fixed deadlines is essential.

Sadik receives around 1000 casework requests per month. The successful candidate will support Sadik in investigating and progressing wide-ranging casework enquiries from residents. This will include individual personal issues as well as contact regarding local campaign issues and national government policy. The successful candidate will also support Sadik at constituent surgeries, meetings and events, taking meeting notes and progressing actions as appropriate.

Applicants must also have a full driving licence and access to a car, as there is a requirement to journey to other local venues for meetings/events, which will not be manageable by public transport.

Occasional attendance at evening or weekend events may be required.

• An excellent command of written English, in order to produce high quality correspondence
• Ability follow instruction, including following established Standard Operating Procedures
• Ability to carry out tasks quickly and to a high standard
• Ability to work independently, show initiative and work well as part of a wider team, demonstrating a positive and flexible attitude
• Motivated with a willingness to learn new skills and take on new challenges
• An interest in current affairs and contemporary political and policy issues
• An ability to absorb and process information quickly and efficiently
• The capacity to always engage respectfully and empathetically with constituents and stakeholders
• Good all round IT skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• An understanding of GDPR
