Location: Hybrid (can be remote)

Salary: In line with IPSA pay scales

Length of Contract: Permanent

Job Details

Chris Ward MP is looking to recruit an experienced and highly motivated Senior Caseworker to join his office. This is a full-time role.

As the role involves managing a complex workload, we’re looking for candidates with at least two years’ experience working for an MP.

You will also be responsible for managing a caseworker, so please only apply if you have experience of managing junior members of staff.

The location of this role is dependent on the right candidate. Our preference is to be based in the constituency office, but we are open to it being remote with regular travel to Brighton.

The job description includes, but is not limited to:

- Assist with surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate
- Ensure all cases are logged; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
- Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially and in line with data protection legislation
- Liaise with Government agencies, voluntary sector and others to resolve constituency matters
- Manage a large caseload of complex cases, working in a professional, confidential, caring and sensitive manner
- Supervise other members of staff including coaching and mentoring
- There may be requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally

What you’ll bring to the team

Experience of working in an MP’s office, with a clear understanding of the role, its expectations and challenges. You’ve got a proven ability to manage, prioritise and delegate workload.

You can work in a fast-paced environment and multitask with ease. You’ll be able to confidently engage with members of the public, whether that’s on the phone or via email, you’ll get their cases dealt with quickly and efficiently.

You’ll be able to hit the ground running and are proficient in using caseworker.mp. The ability to work autonomously is a must.

You’re keen to tackle any issue that comes your way in order to deliver for the people of Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven. A positive, can-do attitude is a must!

Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Closing Date: 22 February 2026

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will take place on a rolling basis, and the position may be filled before the closing date. Early applications are advised.

The successful candidate will start as soon as possible (dependent on notice periods and security vetting).
