Job Details
Tom Gordon MP is looking for a proactive, organised Parliamentary Assistant to be based either in his Westminster or Constituency office with travel to the other location as required.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Assist in writing external communications including speeches for the MP.
• Assist with policy and campaign casework responses.
• Attend and participate in meetings in Parliament.
• Compile briefing notes, take notes of meetings and draft appropriate submissions.
• Develop and maintain knowledge on relevant areas of parliamentary business including how they impact on the constituency.
• Diary management and helping with the MP’s inbox.
• Engage confidentially, professionally and with care and integrity with members of the public.
• Analyse, evaluate, and interpret data to ensure the MP is accurately informed on key issues.
• Work with caseworkers to ensure written and oral questions are relevant and effective.
• Assist/inform Press & Comms team where appropriate when MP has spoken for clipping etc.
• Arrange meetings with Ministers where appropriate.
• Manage submission of questions, tabling amendments and entering petitions.
There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal working hours from time to time. Open to being based either in Westminster or the Constituency office with travel to the other location when required.
