Job Details
Based in Stratford-upon-Avon, this is an opportunity to join a dynamic, hard working and supportive team, and support a very active MP and a wide and exciting range of tasks.
The office is in the town centre, close to the train station, bus and local car parks.
Responsibilities:
Work outside of the normal working hours, and within the constituency will be required on occasion.
• Manage a large caseload of complex cases, working in a professional, confidential, caring and sensitive manner
• Triage incoming emails from the MPs inbox 1-2 days per week
• Assist at surgeries and follow up as appropriate
• Ensure all cases are logged; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
• Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially and in line with data protection legislation
• Liaise with Government agencies, voluntary sector and others to resolve constituency matters
Our office operates with specialist caseworkers who manage their own portfolios (although there is support and overlap in many cases.)
You will be covering cases Agriculture and Rural affairs, asylum and immigration, EU, education and SEND, road safety, flooding and utilities.
THe role is part time - 3 days per week.

We are looking for someone who is sympathetic to Lib Dem values, who demonstrates a positive, proactive and can-do attitude to work, who has:
• Casework management experience
• Outstanding written & verbal communication skills
• A good understanding of the political landscape, party policies & parliamentary procedure
• Strong research skills
• Excellent organisational skills
• A genuine interest in public service
• A commitment to prioritising constituents and serving them to the best of your ability
• Proficiency with IT & office software
The current incumbent specialises in cases relating to Local Government, education, SEND, flooding and road safety.
Systems you will be using:
• Caseworker
• The Microsoft office suite, specifically: Word, Excel, Office Planner, Teams
• House of Commons internal systems
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
