Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for constituents seeking help, providing clear guidance and practical support across a wide range of matters such as housing, welfare, immigration, health, and local services.
  • Take ownership of a varied caseload, ensuring each case is progressed efficiently, recorded accurately, and managed in line with GDPR and data protection requirements.
  • Communicate with government departments, local councils, charities, and other organisations to gather information, advocate on behalf of constituents, and work towards positive outcomes.
  • Prepare written correspondence, briefings, and updates for the MP, ensuring information is accurate, accessible, and tailored to the needs of each case.
  • Attend constituency surgeries and community meetings, supporting the MP in engaging with residents and understanding local concerns.
  • Keep informed about relevant policy developments, legislative changes, and local issues that may affect constituents.
  • Build constructive relationships with community groups, service providers, and stakeholders to strengthen support networks within the constituency.

Person Specification
Essential

  • Previous experience handling casework, ideally within an MP’s office, the Civil Service, local government, or a third‑sector advice organisation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently and compassionately with people from all backgrounds.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a demanding workload.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Ability to work effectively within a small team and independently when required.
  • Competent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and online research. Experience using a casework management system is an advantage.
  • Experience working directly with the public, particularly in challenging or emotionally sensitive situations.
  • A strong understanding of current political and social issues, with the ability to remain strictly non‑partisan in all work.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of local services, community organisations, and support networks.
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals or those in crisis.
  • Abitilty to speak Urdu 
  • Comms/Social media experience
