We are seeking a highly motivated Constituency Support Officer with strong project management skills, excellent communication skills and enthusiasm for community focused campaigns to join our Constituency team for Lola McEvoy, MP for Darlington.

Our ideal candidate will be confident handling a high volume of enquiries, analysing trends, and producing clear, insightful reports to support the MP’s constituency work. They will be an excellent communicator, proactively engaging professionally with constituents and local stakeholders both in person and digitally. This role requires someone who has a proven track record of high organisational skills, project management experience, and commitment to delivering sensitive, accurate, and confidential casework support, while also contributing to policy casework, digital communications, and wider project activity across the constituency.

This is a 4 day a week office based role in Darlington, flexible hours will be considered for the right candidate. A background in politics is not essential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Analyse patterns of enquiries and produce reports
  • Assist surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate
  • Attend constituency meetings as appropriate
  • Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports and communication with the MP and other staff members
  • Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face. Ongoing communication may be required
  • Draft responses to constituents
  • Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation
  • Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately in accordance with the MP
  • Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
  • Manage and monitor social media enquiries, dealing with cases that do not need to be transferred to a higher level. Ensure all enquiries are dealt with in a timely manner
  • Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act
  • There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally
