Experienced Parliamentary Staff – Short-Term Opportunities

We are currently supporting several MPs to recruit experienced parliamentary staff for short-term contracts and secondments. These roles require individuals who can step in quickly and operate with confidence in a busy parliamentary environment.

Please note: applicants must have prior experience working for an MP. Due to the short-term nature of these roles, applications without parliamentary experience will not be considered.

Current opportunities include:

Kim Johnson – Caseworker (3–6 months)
Full-time preferred, part-time considered. Remote or constituency-based options available. Immediate start.

Seema Malhotra – Senior Caseworker (32 hours over 4–5 days)
High-volume inner-city casework, including significant immigration work. Westminster, constituency or remote working options.

Paulette Hamilton – Parliamentary Assistant (3 days per week, Mon–Weds, Westminster-based)
Administrative support, drafting Parliamentary Questions and speeches, preparing briefings and supporting parliamentary business.

Kevin McKenna – Caseworker (March cover)
Full-time preferred, part-time considered. Remote working. Immediate availability required.

These positions may also suit experienced staff seeking a short-term secondment from another MP’s office.

Successful applicants will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a parliamentary office
  • Ability to manage high caseloads and competing priorities
  • Strong drafting skills (correspondence, briefings, PQs)
  • Capacity to integrate quickly into established teams

Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
