Job Details
Liz Jarvis MP is looking for a Caseworker to join her Eastleigh Constituency team.The successful candidate will provide information and advocacy to local people, businesses and groups who require the support of their Member of Parliament.
The ideal candidate will be approachable, proactive, and have a good understanding of the local area. Experience working in a similar role, or within the public or voluntary sector would be a benefit, but not essential.
No specific qualifications are required, but we are looking for someone with excellent written English, customer service skills, IT skills and experience working in a team.
You do not have to be a Liberal Democrat party member, but being comfortable with the party’s policies, aims, and approach to serving the community is essential.
Key responsibilities
- Deal with large numbers of queries and complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face.
- Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases and write responses to constituents
- Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately in accordance with the MP
- Log all cases, monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
- Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act
- Assist surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate.
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
