If you are keen to support the work of Layla Moran MP as an effective advocate of local issues in Parliament and you have a practical approach to helping people, then we would like to hear from you.
This role is primarily office based in the constituency, but with the option of some hybrid working after the first 3 months
We are looking for a full-time or part-time Caseworker with excellent written and oral skills, with a flexible, can-do attitude. This is a varied role and combines some casework together with policy and campaigns responses as well as supporting the MP on visits and surgeries. We often have high volumes of emails or queries so the ability to manage priorities and your own workload is key.
A knowledge of local issues would be helpful but a willingness to learn is more important.
Skills required:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to draft a response tailored to the constituent’s needs with empathy and clarity is essential
- Experience of handling casework and /or working with local and external agencies as an advocate
- Able to prioritise and manage a workload and to be able to deal with competing demands and work independently
- Keen interest in local Oxford West & Abingdon issues, current affairs and the Liberal Democrats
- A polite and professional manner and can-do attitude
- Able to deal with issues in a confidential manner.
- Able to work effectively in a small team.
- Competent use of IT including full proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook and the internet. Experience of a casework management system such as Caseworker or similar database would be an advantage.
