Job Details
Mike Martin MP is seeking a Communications Officer to join his friendly, happy, and hardworking parliamentary team. This is an exciting role where you’ll help deliver content across social, broadcast and print media. You'll be enthusiastic, self-motivated, adaptable and have a ‘can do’ attitude.
Key responsibilities:
- Monitor media coverage, liaise with media and prepare press releases as required
- Produce online graphics and video content, publicising Mike’s work in Tunbridge Wells and Westminster
- Draft and send e-newsletter to constituents
- Manage website content and keep the information up to date
- Manage and monitor social media enquiries, dealing with cases that do not need to be transferred to a higher level.
- Own and deliver local constituency projects.
Required skills:
- Strong organisational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to distil complex information into clear messages
- Experience of copywriting for different audiences
- Ability to prioritise tasks to meet all deadlines
- Familiarity of design software and photo and video editing software is desirable
- Strong awareness and understanding of current political issues
- Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats
Location:
You will primarily be based at the Westminster office but regular travel to Tunbridge Wells will be required. Tunbridge Wells is a 50-minute train journey from London Bridge.
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
