Job Details
I’m looking for a Senior Caseworker to work in my Constituency office.
The successful applicant will work both independently and as part of our small team. We will consider applications for flexible working from home or the constituency office that is based in Dinnington
Previous casework experience in working with the DWP, the NHS and Local Authorities is essential. Experience working for an MP is highly desirable.
Key responsibilities:
• Assist with surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate
• Develop knowledge in specialist areas
• Engage professionally with members of the public
• Ensure all cases are logged; monitor progress and ensure all actions are taken
• Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially
• Ensure that all cases and decisions are properly documented
• Exercise a high level of autonomy in reaching decisions on cases
• Gather relevant information to resolve or progress cases
• Liaise and engage with external providers and suppliers
• Liaise with Government agencies, voluntary sector and others to resolve constituency matters
• Manage a large caseload of complex cases
• Manage and progress portfolio of casework appropriately
• Manage projects
• Provide briefings for the MP
• Research local, regional or national issues
• Respond professionally, sensitively, and confidentially to routine enquiries
• Take initial action on queries from members of the public
• There may be requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours
Additional responsibilities:
• Essential knowledge and experience in working with the DWP and supporting constituents.
• Good understanding of community groups, voluntary organisations and other interest groups.
• Good understanding and experience of working with the NHS and Local Authorities.
Person specification:
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage own workload, work independently, and prioritise work.
• Excellent IT and caseworker system, administrative skills.
• Experience of dealing with confidential information.
• Ability to work flexibly as part of a small team.
• Knowledge of the key issues concerning people in the constituency.
• Sympathy with the aims and values of the Labour Party.
