Job Details
We are looking to appoint a Communications Manager to help lead Prosper UK’s communications work at an important stage in its development. This is a hands-on role for someone with strong political judgement, sharp media instincts and the ability to write clear, compelling copy. Working closely with the Executive Director, Digital Director and Board members, you will help shape Prosper UK’s public voice, develop its messaging, build its profile and secure high-quality media coverage.
You will need to be comfortable drafting press releases and op-eds, advising on messaging, briefing spokespeople, handling journalists and spotting opportunities to intervene in the political debate. We are looking for someone with at least 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience, ideally in politics, media or public affairs.
Responsibilities
- help lead Prosper UK’s communications strategy, shaping its messaging, tone of voice and public positioning
- draft high-quality, media-friendly copy, including press releases, comments, statements, briefing notes, speeches, articles and opinion pieces
- build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, commentators, producers and other relevant stakeholders, securing proactive coverage and managing reactive media handling
- identify opportunities to intervene in the news agenda and support the promotion of reports, campaigns, events, polling and policy announcements
- oversee content planning and communications calendars, brief spokespeople, monitor coverage and report on impact
We are looking for someone who:
- has at least 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience in politics, media, public affairs or a related field, with a strong understanding of the UK political and media landscape
- is an excellent writer with the ability to produce clear, persuasive and media-friendly copy quickly, and to develop clear messages for public audiences
- has strong political judgement, good media instincts and confidence engaging with journalists
- has a strong network of contacts across politics, media and related worlds, or the credibility to build one quickly
- is organised, self-starting and comfortable operating in a small, ambitious team, and is aligned with Prosper UK’s broad outlook and motivated by what we are trying to build

Interviews will be held on a rolling basis. We reserve the right to interview and appoint before the closing date. We are looking for someone to start from 6 April, but can offer some flexibility for the right candidate.
