Job Details

Kirith Entwistle MP is looking for a full-time Caseworker/Senior Caseworker to join her small team (37.5 hours a week).

The role will be based mainly in the constituency office in Bolton North East with occasional days in Westminster and opportunities for flexible working/working from home. Occasional evening/weekend work will be required.

Part-time applications (30 hours+) will also be considered.

Responsibilities:
• Dealing with large numbers of queries including complex cases from members of the public - by phone, email and face-to-face.
• Logging all cases; monitoring progress and ensuring all identified actions are taken.
• Ensuring cases are dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately.
• Drafting responses to constituents and ensuring records/information are kept and managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation.
• Managing a large caseload of complex cases.
• Liaising with government agencies, councils, the voluntary sector and other organisations to help resolve cases.
• Assisting Kirith at face-to-face and online advice surgeries.
• Critically analysing patterns of enquiries.
• Reviewing and updating office casework processes and procedures.

Essential skills:
• Experience in casework, a public-facing role or working with the public.
• Strong problem-solving skills to achieve the best outcomes for constituents.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.
• The ability to demonstrate patience, empathy and respect for confidentiality.
• Ability to draft clear and concise letters and emails to a high professional standard.
• Non-judgemental outlook and ability to empathise with people in difficult situations.
• Good attention to detail, organisational skills, and time management.
• Ability to write concise reports and present these in team meetings and elsewhere.
• Knowledge of current affairs.
• Full UK driving licence, use of own car.

Desirable skills:
• Previous experience working for an MP or a political environment.
• Labour Party member and/or sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party.
• Ability to provide training to colleagues on casework processes/systems.
• Knowledge of the Caseworker CRM system.
