Jim Dickson MP is seeking a dedicated Caseworker and Administrative Officer to join his busy constituency office in Dartford.

This is an opportunity to join a friendly and energetic team supporting constituents across a growing and diverse Kent constituency.

The successful candidate will help ensure constituents’ concerns are heard and addressed, providing advice and support on a wide range of issues. The role involves managing casework, responding to enquiries, assisting with MP surgeries, and liaising with government departments, local councils, and other organisations.

This is a full-time, office-based role in Dartford and would suit a motivated individual who is organised, proactive and keen to develop their skills while helping the MP represent and support local residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support constituents on a range of casework issues.
  • Draft responses to constituents, ensuring cases are handled promptly, sensitively and accurately.
  • Gather information to assist with resolving cases and monitor progress.
  • Assist with MP surgeries, meetings and follow-up casework.
  • Respond to enquiries via phone, email and social media.
  • Help manage inboxes and incoming enquiries from residents.
  • Liaise with government departments, local authorities and other organisations.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with data protection requirements.
  • Assist with administrative arrangements for meetings and surgeries.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • The ability to build relationships with stakeholders and constituents.
  • A proactive, reliable and professional approach.
  • The ability to work effectively within a small, fast-paced team.
  • Good IT skills and the ability to manage data.
  • Patience and empathy when supporting people facing difficult situations.
  • An interest in politics and current affairs; experience in politics, Parliament or the charity sector is desirable.
  • An understanding of and sympathy with the aims and values of the Labour Party.
