Role Purpose

The Programme Manager is the operational anchor of the Foundation, responsible for ensuring the organisation delivers effectively against its strategic priorities. Reporting to the CEO, you will lead day-to-day operations, build scalable systems, and manage key internal and external relationships.

You will play a central role in strengthening and scaling the flagship Scholarship Programme while safeguarding the integrity of Avicenna’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead internal operations, including programme delivery and organisational development
  • Translate strategy into clear operational plans alongside the CEO
  • Oversee delivery of the Scholarship Programme, ensuring quality and impact
  • Build and sustain a high-performing, values-driven team culture
  • Manage governance, risk, and compliance
  • Monitor performance, impact, and organisational health metrics
  • Develop and maintain relationships with partners, funders, and stakeholders

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Senior operational or general management experience (nonprofit, education, or youth sector preferred)
  • Strong alignment with Avicenna’s mission and values
  • High levels of drive, resilience, and self-motivation
  • Proven strategic and operational leadership capability
  • Experience managing budgets, teams, and organisational development
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-growth environment

Desirable:

  • Experience in leadership development or education programmes
  • Familiarity with British Muslim community contexts or Islamic leadership values
  • Understanding of impact measurement and evaluation
