About us: The Conservative Friends of India seeks to build stronger relations between the Conservative Party, the British Indian community and India.

About the role: The Parliamentary Assistant will support with day-to-day activities of CF India and will work with the Executive Board and Co-Chairs to implement its strategic priorities. The Parliamentary Assistant will be responsible for supporting general operations, which will include: communications; social media; organising events; coordinating campaigning and related activities; and supporting fundraising activities.

Ideally we would find someone who could work with us for 2 days a week and start in April / ASAP, but if you would like to support us for a few months, we are also open to applications. For the right person for the permanent role, we are happy to wait for notice periods to end.

Personal Specification:

Experience working in Parliament / in a political role is a must

- Demonstrable professional and political judgement

- Very good understanding of the Conservative Party

- Experience in dealing with senior politicians and senior business leaders

- Integrity and an understanding of the importance of confidentiality

- Experience of organising and leading political campaigning activity

- Clear and demonstrable experience of building and maintaining strong working relations with a variety of stakeholders

- Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a range of audiences

- Experience of administrative, organisational and office management skills

- Conscientious and careful attention to detail

- Experience at event planning

- Ease with communicating through digital and social media

- A proactive and energetic approach

- Knowledge and understanding of the British Indian population would be preferable

Interview/Start Dates

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis but CF India intends to make an offer to the Parliamentary Assistant before the end of April.

Interviews are likely to take place w/c 30th March

Ideally, the successful candidate would be able to start in April or May.
