Job Details

Bayo Alaba MP is seeking a part-time (25.2 Hours) Constituency Support Officer to join his busy constituency office in Southend East and Rochford.

This is an opportunity to join a friendly and energetic team supporting constituents.

The role will involve organising constituency meetings, primarily on Fridays and Saturdays. This will include drafting letters or leaflets for residents, attending meetings alongside colleagues, responding to queries from constituents, and capturing photographs for use on social media and in press materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Book and organise constituency meetings on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays
  • Attend constituency meetings as required
  • Support constituency surgeries and other meetings, including appropriate follow-up actions
  • Analyse patterns in constituent enquiries and present findings in reports and communications to the MP and team
  • Handle a high volume of standard queries, while also supporting more complex cases via phone, email, social media, and face-to-face interactions (including ongoing casework where required)
  • Draft responses to constituents
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and manage information confidentially in line with data protection legislation
  • Gather relevant information to support case resolution
  • Log all cases, monitor progress, and ensure all necessary actions are completed
  • Maintain records securely and in accordance with the Data Protection Act
  • Occasionally work outside normal hours and travel as required

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Prepare briefings for constituency meetings
  • Build relationships and liaise with local stakeholders

Person Specification:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confident interacting with people at all levels
  • Action focused and able to work effectively as part of a busy, fast paced team
  • Ability to prioritise workload according to strict deadlines with a strong attention to detail
  • Empathetic, tactful and sensitive when dealing with constituent enquiries

Interviews will be held w/c 1st of April, with a start date as soon as security clearance allows.
