Taiwo Owatemi MP is seeking an experienced and organised Senior Caseworker to join her Coventry North West constituency team. The role focuses on managing complex casework, providing accurate advice to residents, and ensuring the MP is kept updated on key issues affecting the constituency. As the primary casework contact within the office, the postholder will lead on case-related enquiries and ensure cases are progressed efficiently. They will work with external agencies, support community engagement, and contribute to local campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
• Respond to complex constituent enquiries via phone, email, and face‑to‑face communication as the main casework point of contact in the office.
• Manage a high caseload, gathering information and drafting clear, timely responses.
• Log and monitor cases using CaseworkerMP, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection requirements.
• Conduct engagement calls with constituents and stakeholders to gather updates and progress cases.
• Liaise with government departments, local authorities and voluntary organisations to resolve issues raised by residents.
• Identify trends in casework and prepare concise briefings for the MP.
• Support constituency surgeries, street meetings, coffee mornings and other events, including follow‑up actions.
• Contribute to community engagement work, campaigns and projects.
• Undertake research on local and national issues relevant to casework or constituency priorities.
• Work flexibly, including occasional evenings, weekends or travel outside Coventry.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
• Strong experience handling complex casework.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Sound judgement and a sensitive, professional approach.
• Confidence engaging with the public, including vulnerable individuals.
• Understanding of parliamentary processes, public services and the role of an MP’s office.
• Ability to work independently and contribute to a small, fast‑paced team.
Desirable: Experience using CaseworkerMP or similar systems, stakeholder engagement experience, familiarity with Labour values and a full UK driving licence.
