Job Details

Working both from Westminster and the constituency, this is an opportunity to help make a real difference to people's lives in Chelsea and Fulham.

The caseworker will work alongside the established Senior Caseworker and another Caseworker and be expected to work as a team as well as independently. Experience in casework is preferred. Experience in a similar role providing support to individuals will be considered.

The position requires excellent communication skills; the ability to speak, write and listen well. And strong administrative and organisational skills to manage a busy workload.

Key Responsibilities


* Act as a first point of contact for constituents via telephone and email including handling high volumes of enquiries, engaging with a wide range of constituents over the phone, including those who may be distressed or dissatisfied, demonstrating patience, resilience, and professionalism.
* Supporting the MP in his work with constituents by providing support through liaison with government agencies, local authorities, the voluntary sector and others.
* Managing, progressing, and monitoring a heavy caseload.
* Preparing for and attending surgery appointments.
* Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of relevant guidelines/legislation.
* Analysing patterns of cases and reporting to the Senior Caseworker and MP.
* Ensuring cases are dealt with in a sensitive and confidential manner.
* Working effectively as part of a small team, showing initiative and taking ownership of your work.

Person & Job specification

* Degree level or equivalent.
* Experience of carrying out casework preferred.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Experience of dealing with challenging individuals in a calm, professional and respectful manner
* A high standard of written English with attention to detail.
* Can prioritise work effectively and work independently.
* Has excellent administrative and organisational skills.
* Experience of dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
* Competent use of IT packages.
* A commitment to helping people and getting the best results possible for residents.
* A positive, approachable manner with the ability to contribute to a supportive and good-humoured team environment.

Occasional evening work might be required.
