Job Details

Mark is seeking to recruit a full-time Digital Communications Officer to join his hard-working team, based in either the constituency or Westminster, with occasional travel when required.

The majority of the role will focus on producing professional content for a range of platforms including Mark’s website, social media, e-news and press. Mark is seeking to appoint an experienced, digital native who is capable of producing engaging and original professional content, including industry-standard graphics and video content.

Job description

The Digital Communications Officer will:

  • work with Mark and his close-knit team to plan and implement a 360-degree communications plan, covering his work in the constituency and Westminster, with weekly deliverables and KPIs.
  • produce professional online graphics and video content, publicising Mark’s work in the constituency and Parliament on social media.
  • ensure high quality written communication, with pro-active, planned management of e-news, media management and the development of Mark’s website.
  • manage comments on social media and supporting Mark in responding to enquiries from the public.
  • manage a programme of daily, weekly and monthly communications which are subject to change due to political events.
  • work with colleagues to support Mark's wider programme of work representing constituents, through events, visits and correspondence.

Person specification

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience working in a similar digital communications role in politics, trade unions, third sector campaigns or industry. Professional qualifications are highly desirable, but experience and talent are essential.
  • Experience of filming and editing videos and photographs using Adobe Premier Pro, Photoshop or similar, with industry-level outputs.
  • Creativity and originality, with organisational skills, self-motivation and an enthusiasm to learn and grow in the role.
  • Flexibility, self-reflective practice and willingness to adapt to change are vital.
  • Ability to work hand-in-glove with Mark and his hard-working team are essential.
  • A natural ability to communicate Mark's policy positions with authenticity and natural instinct.
  • A solid understanding of political issues in Parliament and the constituency.
  • Sympathy with the values of the Labour Party
