Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the office of Iqbal Mohamed MP as a Joint Communications and Research Lead. The successful candidate will be an experienced, proactive individual that is capable of shaping the MP's multi-channel communications strategy, while also providing robust research support to inform constituency and parliamentary activities.
Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Communications:
- Developing and delivering a strategic communications plan aligned with the MP’s campaigns.
- Drafting high-quality written content, including press releases, op-eds, newsletters, and social media posts.
- Produce online graphics and video content that can be shared across different social media platforms.
- Manage and expand the MP’s digital presence, including social media channels and websites.
- Monitor media coverage and identify relevant opportunities.
Research:
- Provide high-quality research and briefings on a variety of issues.
- Monitor legislative developments and relevant policy areas.
- Support the MP in preparing for debates, meetings, and media appearances.
- Identify opportunities for policy engagement, campaigns, and parliamentary interventions.
Person Specification:
- Demonstrable experience in a communications, media, public affairs, and parliamentary research role.
- Excellent written and communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, persuasive, and accurate content for diverse platforms, publications, and audiences.
- Proven media and social media management skills, including growing reach, improving accessibility, and content creation.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information into concise, accessible terms.
- Excellent understanding of UK politics, parliamentary processes, and current affairs.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- Confident taking initiative, & handling sensitive information with discretion.
- Professional & collaborative approach to working with colleagues, stakeholders, & journalists.
- Alignment with the MP’s values and policy interests.
Other:
Please note this role requires occasional travel to the constituency and other locations, and occassional out-of-hours work.

The start date is as soon as possible subject to parliamentary security vetting, which can take several weeks.
